700wx --> 755 - Some questions before I do it...
I have a 700wx now and I am thinking of switching to the 755 as I have some programs I need for my business that apparently run faster and more reliably on Palm OS rather than Windows Mobile.
I do however have some questions and was hoping someone could answer them for me, mainly these are features I use a LOT on my 700wx that I hope the 755 can also do or has something similar to:
1) The Today Screen - I really love this on the 700wx, I know the 755 doesn't have this natively and I have looked around at the 3rd party solutions, but I have yet to find anything close to the 700wx's functionality there (important items being, time & date, battery life, signal strength, number of unread emails, calendar (agenda), tasks and the final item I will put below in #2
2) The Search Field. The 700wx has a search field on the today screen that I use ALL THE TIME. For instance, driving through a town, hungry, and I want to phone in an order to the nearest Outback - On my current 700wx I just type in "city state outback" and hit enter, the first result I get is the address and phone number where I can just scroll to select the number, hit enter and it dials it - I NEED THIS! Hopefully the 755 will do something similar?
3) Typing in a name or number to call. On my 700wx I don't have to go into the phone app or anything, I just start typing either a name or a number at the today screen and the phone figures out the rest. If I'm typing in a number and thus the sequence of keys doesn't match a name in my address book it automatically types the numbers, if the sequence of keys I'm hitting DOES match a name in my address book then it automatically types the letters (hopefully that made sense?)...For example, lets say in my address book I have a "Frank" but not a "Fred" if I start typing by pushing the 5/F key, then the 2/R key the phone will show "Frank" from my address book and the keys I'm pushing will be generating letters not numbers, but as soon as I hit 1/E it automatically switches the keys I've pushed form letters back to numbers and allows me to continue dialing the number "521-...." etc...
Does the palm OS also do this?
4) Last thing here, the freguently called list, I rely on this heavily as throughout a day I am always calling the same numbers over and over, ususally 4 or 5 of them through out a given day and they are rarely the same ones (except for of course the wife etc)...On my 700wx I just hit the call button and the frequently called list comes up, I scroll throug the 10 or so names/numbers it shows there to the one I want to call and hit the call button again. Also, if the contact in question has a work number, a cell number and a home number when I scroll through the frequently called list and select their name it gives me another option to scroll those numbers for that person so I can call a different line for them.
These are my 4 concerns and hopes that the 755 will still accomodate or at least have something just as easy/similar to use...Anyone know for sure? Suggestions?
